Eighth labor of Mary

Far away from Mary’s homeland, hidden in the jagged mountains of the east, a cult has risen in secret over many years. It infiltrated every home in the kingdom, gained every position at the royal court and corrupted every temple in the land. It’s members worshiped ancient monstrosities that were slain by heroes long ago, hoping that trough their blasphemous rites would bring them back and use them to bend the world to their rule. Gigantic cursed temples were dug out by the population enslaved by the cult and unholy rituals were performed there, each one of them thinning the barriers between this world and the infernal beyond.

The stories of few who managed to escape the accursed land eventually reached Blessed Battle Virgin Mary’s ears and she traveled to the greatest of temple that the cult build. Hallowed into the mountain as combination of natural and man-made caves and halls, temple went deep underground, almost getting to the edge of hell cultists were trying to access. At first Mary tried her best to sneak inside, using her strong grip to scale the walls unclimbable by normal men. Deeper and deeper as she went, she realized that cultists were almost innumerable, as so many people were drawn in with promises of power in the new world they were bringing.

Eventually Mary’s luck ran out when one guard spotted her. Original plan to slain the leaders and throw cult into disarray failed and she was forced to fight against thousands of fanatics who came at her like a swarm of locust. Battle Virgin fought with great valor, crushing hundreds with her mighty strikes, but for every cultist slain three more took it’s place. For the first time ever Mary had to slowly retreat back so not to be cornered. As she did that she hit column after column that held the walls, hoping to create barriers to slow her enemies down. While it seemed to have little effect in caving the will of the cultists, something else was caving in. The mountain itself. In a moment realization struck Mary: cultists were too eager, for they build the temple too large to keep the mountain in place. With unseen fury, Blessed Battle Virgin started fighting the temple itself, crushing walls and support columns as she rushed to the exit. There, wounded and bleeding, Mary employed her powerful muscles on a giant pillar and with a mighty push brought whole mountain down, burying the cult under tons of rock forever, never to come back.
