Sap is a man of the book, being the village's accountant and taxman before he and Jade left looking for a new home, as it is a custom among the Gr'velkins. He knows bit more about what is outside their old place and is the group's guide, making sure they have provisions and places to rest on their journey, as well as avoiding dangers.
Extra: Two more characters added and a small fix to Sap and Jade who now have tools of their trade with them
You might wonder why is Jade rocking high heels, cups and a miners helmet and not any other protective gear. The answer is that she doesn't need any since Gr'velkin are very resistant to bludgeoning damage and can just crawl or punch their way out of cave-ins, so girl miners can afford to look attractive. Helmet is there in fact to hold the candle.
It should also be pointed out that reason why Mit is wearing iron vest is the same reason chef's wear aprons: they don't want to stain themselves. Both Mit and Sap in fact are wearing as little as the girls. Since male Gr'velkins eat metals, their chainmail loinclothes are there as a snack. Jes is more dressed up since she has to get attention and stand out as a merchant, which is why Mit made her the shiny dress.

Jade is a construction worker and a miner, as most Gr'velkin females are. She mined silver in a mine which Sap was supervisor of and eventually they started going out and got married. Jade heard of a rich new vein of precious metals to the west from a traveler and together with Sap and their friends they started an expedition to seek out this new great wealth.
Mit is what humans would call a chef, even if he is dealing with metals. When he opened his shop as a young lad he had bit of trouble getting people interested as he was never much of a merchant. Jes at the time was a big rival to him and they often butted heads since she was very good at making deals. Eventually they managed to overcome their differences and become partners, then friends and eventually a married couple.
Jes was a natural born merchant since she was born, growing into family business and then going solo. She got into some shady deals, to the displeasure of several Gr'velkins, Mit included with whom she butted head the most. Mit tried to convince her to do things honestly, but all she could see is him not earning his fare share doing it that way. Eventually, and slowly, Jes had a change of heart and decided to try the honest way with Mit's help and in the end it worked out amazingly for both of them.
